Individual Counselling

What can counselling help with?

We’ve all had times when we’ve found it difficult to cope, felt anxious or overwhelmed by negative thoughts or feelings or lacked confidence.  These feelings or thoughts could be due to things that happened to us in childhood or a recent event; but sometimes we can’t explain why we feel anxious or depressed, we just do. Some people feel that you have to have ‘a reason’ to come to counselling however we firmly believe that if you feel counselling might help then why not give it a try?

We focus on what’s brought to counselling, the feelings you’re having and the impact it’s having on your life. We don't analyse, judge or tell you what you should do as we don’t think that’s useful.

However counselling is more than just a ‘chat’.  Your counsellor will work with you to help you:

  • Make sense of how you are feeling

  • Understand why you feel as you do

  • Understand how your thoughts, feeling and emotions are affecting you

Doing this can help you understand yourself better, makes choices or decisions that positively impact your life or change the way you look at situations or events.

We recommend you attend counselling weekly or fortnightly as less frequently can just become a ‘check in’ with your counsellor
Cost: £60 per session. Contact Ian, Kathy or Mags to discuss our availability.
